International Programs Office

The International Programs Office (IPO) promotes activities and programs in international education. This includes providing study abroad opportunities for a wide range of students as well as providing services to the many students and scholars from around the world. The services for international students normally begin when a student is accepted and receives information from IPO about applying for a visa, and then continue throughout the student's program at UMass, with support which include advising on immigration regulations; guidance on employment issues; personal, financial, and academic counseling; advice on adjusting to American life; and assistance in dealing with both U.S. and foreign government agencies. IPO is host to over 350 visiting scholars from over 50 countries. These scholars are here doing research, teaching or pursuing other scholarly activities.  IPO also encourages university faculty and staff seeking professional experience abroad. For further information, contact the IPO, tel. (413) 545-2710.
