The Department

The department prepares leaders in educational policy, leadership, and assessment in four primary areas:  P-12 schooling, higher and post-secondary education, international contexts, and educational assessment and research methods.  Faculty and graduate students conduct rigorous research and evaluation that contribute to the development of evidence-based policies, programs, and practices; apply the knowledge derived from research in both domestic and international settings to improve the effectiveness and relevance of education; and advance research and evaluation methodologies to contribute to the discourse about effective knowledge generation and decision making in educational settings.

The department does not offer an undergraduate major, but contributes to the Education Major through coursework and offers courses to fulfill General Education requirements.
