The Program
The Certificate in Civic Engagement and Public Service provides a combination of theory and practical experiences in a coherent framework for students who want to learn how to be effective in building a more just and peaceful world. Any UMass undergraduate may pursue the Certificate in Civic Engagement and Public Service in conjunction with his or her departmental major. Upon graduation, students who have completed all requirements will receive a Certificate in Civic Engagement and Public Service that is noted on their transcript in addition to their UMass diploma. Students must complete a minimum of six courses (each three credits or more) for a minimum of 18 credits that fulfill specific requirements.
