The Field

Study in the social and behavioral sciences focuses on human behavior and organization from cultural, social, behavioral, and environmental perspectives. The social sciences try to explain how we are both social and individual beings. Undergraduates in the college are expected to achieve an understanding of culture, society, and individual and social interaction processes, and to learn methods by which knowledge in the social and behavioral sciences is created. Students anchor their knowledge in at least one discipline, but have opportunities to expand this knowledge through various broadening experiences inside and outside the classroom.
