UMA Undergraduate Guide 2011-2012 Academic Departments and Programs Engineering Management The Minor
The Minor
The minor in Engineering Management, offered by the Isenberg School of Management, is available to students with a major in the College of Engineering. It offers engineers training in business and management tools, which will help them evaluate the impact of engineering decisions on an entire enterprise. Students acquire basic skills in decision making, finance, management, and marketing. Students interested in pursuing the minor should consult with an adviser in the College of Engineering Undergraduate Office in their sophomore year, as careful planning will be required to incorporate appropriate courses into the curriculum, and space in courses may not be available to those who have not indicated their intent to pursue the minor. Requirements In addition, it is recommended (but not required) that students complete other specified courses to strengthen their understanding of the link between management and engineering. The opportunity also exists for students in the minor to pursue upper-level electives in business in consultation with the program adviser.
