UMA Undergraduate Guide 2011-2012 Undergraduate Admissions, Expenses, and Financial Aid Transfer Admission Honors
Honors
Academically talented transfer students with an overall GPA of 3.500 or higher and a grade of B or higher in College Writing may qualify at the time of admission to transfer into Commonwealth Honors College. However, meeting the 3.500 minimum requirement does not guarantee admission to the honors college. Students accepted to UMass Amherst who graduated from a certified Commonwealth Honors Program (CHP) with an associate's degree are eligible to join Commonwealth Honors College during their first semester at UMass Amherst. These CHP students must meet, as soon as possible in their first semester, with a Commonwealth Honors College adviser regarding both admission to Commonwealth Honors College and honors requirements (Commonwealth Honors College requirements vary depending on the types of honors being pursued). Note: to graduate with any level of Commonwealth Honors College distinctions, students must complete a minimum of 45 graded (not pass/fail) University of Massachusetts Amherst credits. For more information on opportunities available through Commonwealth Honors College and requirements for graduation with the diploma recognition Commonwealth Honors College Scholar, see the “Commonwealth Honors College” and “University Graduation Requirements” sections of this Guide, visit the Commonwealth Honors College office in 504 Goodell Building, call (413) 545-2483, or explore the link www.honors.umass.edu. |
