The First-Year Intelligence
The transition to university life is exciting and challenging. FYI (First Year Intelligence) is a comprehensive program for all first-year students that broadens intellectual horizons; helps build relationships with other students, faculty and staff; and provides academic and personal support. Students establish themselves academically, get involved with campus activities, find leadership opportunities, and identify the resources to navigate life at UMass Amherst. Through FYI, students receive information about important decisions they will face during the year, have a variety of choices of living communities within this large university, and enjoy a wide selection of activities encouraging extracurricular interests and meeting students of diverse backgrounds and interests. These opportunities are offered through Summer and Fall New Students Orientation (NSO), Academic Advising, First-Year Seminars, Residential First-Year Experience (RFYE), and Residential Academic Programs (RAP). |
