Program Overview

The UMass Amherst School of Public Health & Health Sciences in conjunction with the department of Continuing & Professional Education is pleased to announce that beginning in the fall 2014 we will offer to all current students in the MPH-PHP, MPH-Nutrition, and MBA-Health Administration the opportunity to earn a fully accredited Certificate in Global Health. The Certificate can also be earned by non-degree seeking students from outside institutions or by working professionals. The Global Health Certificate is designed to be completed along with your current course of study and requires the completion of 5 courses.  
 
Upon completion of the certificate, students will have gained the following skills:
•    The ability to understand and describe emerging health concerns.  
•    Plan, implement, and evaluate global health programs from community, regional, and national perspectives.  
•    Analyze the social, political, and medical factors that influence populations.  
•    Describe issues of health equity and human rights.
•    Describe the role of non-governmental organizations.

Format: 100% online
Requirements: All applicants must submit an application, official transcripts, resume/CV, and 2 letters of recommendation.
Application: All prospective students must apply for the certificate, regardless of student status.  Applications for current students are considered twice a year: October 1st deadline for spring admissions and March 1st for fall admissions.  Courses you have already completed can be used to fulfill certificate requirements, as long as they are listed in the curriculum.
