Master of Science Degree Program

The requirements for admission to the Master of Science degree program are those of the graduate school. Applications are accepted on a “rolling admissions” basis. Applicants MUST identify a research faculty member who is willing to accept them into their research laboratory. Financial support in the form of Research Assistantships or Teaching Assistantships is not always available to students pursuing a Master of Science degree in Animal Biotechnology and Biomedical Sciences. Prospective students should discuss the issue of financial support with their sponsoring faculty member prior to applying to the program.

The Master of Science Degree in Animal Biotechnology and Biomedical Sciences will be awarded upon successful completion of thirty credits which are earned by participation in formal coursework, journal clubs, seminars, independent study and thesis research. A thesis summarizing the major research findings during this course of study is also required. Two to three years is usually required to complete the Masters degree.
