Office of Information Technologies

Graduate students have access to a wide range of computing resources designed to enhance their day-to-day experience and support their academic endeavors. The Office of Information Technologies (OIT) is the central IT department at the University and is responsible for most computing and phone services on campus.

OIT provides the wired and wireless Internet access, email and telephone service, free and low-cost software, computer classrooms, and support for a host of computing issues. We also maintain UMass Amherst’s student information system (SPIRE), and one of the campus Learning Management System (Moodle). For a full list of services, visit the OIT Web site (www.oit.umass.edu).

Graduate students with general computing questions can call the OIT Help Desk at 413-545-9400. Graduate student instructors and teaching assistants who need help incorporating technology into their teaching can contact the Instructional Media Lab (413-545-2823 | instruct@oit.umass.edu) with questions or to make an appointment for a consultation.
