Health Services Fee & Student Health Insurance

A mandatory Student Health Fee is included on the tuition bill of all students taking five or more credits per semester. This fee cannot be waived.

Massachusetts requires college students to have comprehensive health insurance. All students taking five or more credits are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP); charges appear on the semester tuition bill. Students with comparable coverage may be eligible to waive SHIP coverage and charges; the waiver deadline is the end of the Add/Drop period. More information is available at www.umass.edu/uhs/insurance/ship/ and in the University Health Services section of the Bulletin.
